Hi everyone. Thank you very much for all your messages. It feals good to be sitting back on my couch with a refrigerator nearby and a warm roof over my head. The full impact of finishing isn't really hitting me yet. Maybe because I'm still in a bit of a limbo state while I look for a job and home.

The last days were full of challenges and the peak was definitly a bear to climb. The wind was blowing and the cloud we were in made all the rocks slippery. It took a very long time to get up and down concidering it was only 10 miles.

This accomplishment will be a continuous help to me in the future when faced with difficult tasks. I'll always be able to say, "Well if I could do the trail, I can do this." I'm very glad I chose to do it.

I'll miss all the friends I made along the trail and hope that we keep in contact. Thank you everyone that wrote messages on this site. It was encouraging to hear that so many family members and others were watching my progress and enjoying the pictures I was posting. I hope you like the video I'm going to post on the front page sometime soon. It will show the conditions and events of the last couple weeks. I'm having some technical difficulties trying to get it to render but I'm not surprised given that I'm trying to use some free windows software to make it. I'm also going to look into posting a censored :) version of my diary but that's not high on the priority list.

I'll also be taking the post feature off this page but leaving the content up. If you want to get in contact with me, just e-mail me at jcarter@naturalhues.com So farewell for now and thanks for you support.

Hi Jason,
TQA has been following your progress and wanted to say congrats on your accomplishment! Jim wanted to tell you that you walk like a Banshee, and Dan and Megan are glad that you didn't get eaten by any bears or people in bear suits. We're sure you've made lots of squirrel and chipmunk friends along the way. Make sure to stop in for a visit if you're ever in the area (Jim says to tell you that you'll be amazed by the changes to the product).
Take care,
Jim, Megan, Terry, & Brian

Wow Jason!!!! Congratulations!

I agree with the other posters. It's a fantastic, once in a lifetime achievement made especially great because you were willing to share it with the rest of us. Thanks a ton. It was nice to put aside the daily grind and catch up on your whereabouts, your new friends and daily trials.

...and thanks to your Dad's post I was able to reflect on what we were doing today when you "reached your peak".

Take it easy for a while Mr. Carter. Eventually we all look forward to hearing how you like the scene up there in Portsmouth. Beautiful country for sure.

Congratulations on your summit of Baxter peak to complete the trail!!! It's a phenomenal achievement to be relished for oh, at least five days! All the best transitioning back. My feet and knees, along with my bruised calf muscles, are still hurting two weeks later.

Jason,

Congratulations! I never doubted you would go all the way. Hope you found what you were looking for on the trail. Give me a ring if you get the chance when you are in town.
